About Reiki

Rei:  Spirit, Spiritual, Universal

Ki:  Energy

Since its rediscovery in the mid 1800’s by Japanese monk, Mikao Usui, Reiki has become the most widespread and fastest growing energy healing technique on Earth. Through practicing Reiki, countless individuals have experienced profound healing and personal growth.

Reiki centers on the seven energy charkas in and around the body. One of the best ways to visualize how Reiki works is to think of each of the body’s seven charkas as spinning wheels. After trauma or stress, the wheels can slow down or not spin as well. Reiki energy works where it needs to go to release energy blockages.

Reiki can have the effect of increasing the overall energy stores of the body to promote healing, growth and transformation. It can balance the energy flow and reconnect the energy centers which can result in a more peaceful and more centered state of being. Patients in all states of health, from someone looking for inner peace to someone combating and illness can benefit.

Reiki sessions are gentle and non-invasive and are done with the clothes on. Typically, Reiki practitioners will have you lie on a massage table and will gently place their hands on and under your body. There is very little movement and their hands will rest in one place for a few minutes before moving to the next position. Hand placements vary slightly from practitioner to practitioner, but generally, treatments begin at the head and end at the feet. The recipient will generally feel very relaxed throughout the hour-long treatment.
